Pier 41 Short Hop Ferry

The Pier 41 Short Hop ferry provides service between the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal and the Pier 41 Marine Terminal, which is close to Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and more destinations on San Francisco's northern waterfront. The Pier 41 Short Hop is only available on weekends with three trips in each direction.

NOTE: Temporary Pier 41 Short Hop schedule changes are in effect from October 16, 2021, until further notice due to maintenance work at the Pier 41 Marine Terminal. We apologize for any inconvenience. See the temporary schedule below.

The latest departure from Pier 41 back to Downtown San Francisco leaves at 4 p.m. during this maintenance window. There is no late afternoon departure from Downtown S.F. to Pier 41.

East Bay to San Francisco

These are the East Bay departure times to connect to one of the above listed Pier 41 Short Hop trips.

  • MAIN STREET ALAMEDA: 9:45 a.m., 12:00 p.m.
  • OAKLAND: 10:05 a.m., 12:20 p.m.
  • RICHMOND: 9:50 a.m., 12:00 p.m.
  • VALLEJO: 9:20 a.m., 11:40 a.m.

San Francisco to East Bay

These are the Downtown S.F. departure times to the East Bay that you can connect to from one of the above listed Pier 41 Short Hop trips.

  • OAKLAND & MAIN STREET ALAMEDA:  11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.
  • RICHMOND: 10:55 a.m., 2:05 p.m., 4:30 p.m.
  • VALLEJO: 11:30 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 4:10 p.m.

Fares & Tickets

If you're riding a transbay ferry route within two hours of taking the Short Hop, there is no additional charge for the Pier 41 Short Hop.

Ticketing is handled depending on the fare media used.

  • CLIPPER: Tag on and tag off on both the transbay trip and the Short Hop as normal. The discount covering the cost of the Short Hop will be applied automatically.
  • MOBILE TICKET: Show the activated ferry ticket in the app to crews on both the transbay trip and the Short Hop. Mobile tickets are active for two hours from initial activation.
  • PAPER TICKET: Show your proof of purchase/receipt to the Short Hop crew to board.

If you are riding only the Pier 41 Short Hop with no transbay ferry trip within two hours before or after, here are the fares:

  • Clipper/Mobile Ticket: $1.00
  • Discount Clipper/Mobile Ticket: $0.50
  • Paper Ticket: $1.25
  • Discount Paper Ticket: $0.50
