Sea Change Hydrogen Ferry Demonstration Project
Welcome aboard Sea Change, the world's first commercial hydrogen fuel-cell powered ferry.
Sea Change will be operating special trips on SF Bay Ferry's Pier 41 Short Hop route on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday through the end of 2024. Rides are free. These trips are made in addition to existing Pier 41 Short Hop service on Saturdays, Sundays and select holidays.
The MV Sea Change is owned by SWITCH Maritime, and was developed by the company with support from a grant provided by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
This service is made possible thanks to sponsorships from a group of partners including Chevron New Energies; the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway, and Transportation District; and United Airlines and is operated by San Francisco Bay Ferry’s contract operator, Blue & Gold Fleet.
