Since July 2025, SF Bay Ferry has been working with stakeholders to explore a path to a financially sustainable future for South San Francisco ferry service. This work has included extensive outreach, including a survey completed by more than 1,500 people who work or live near Oyster Point.
At this stage, after analyzing feedback strongly opposed to major structural changes to the route, SF Bay Ferry is exploring schedule optimization for the South S.F. route to begin in March 2026. Over a trial period, SF Bay Ferry and stakeholders (including major Oyster Point employers and local public agencies) will cooperate on enhanced marketing for the route while monitoring ridership changes. It is expected that in 2027 stakeholders will be asked to contribute to the route’s subsidy base to prevent service cuts to bring the subsidization of the route in-line with the rest of the SF Bay Ferry system.
Before changing the schedule, SF Bay Ferry would like feedback from current riders and potential riders on the preferred option in comparison with the existing schedule.
THIS SURVEY IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.
