San Francisco Bay Ferry Welcomes Rosanne Foust to Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO – Rosanne Foust, President and CEO of the San Mateo County Economic Development Association, has been appointed by California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas to serve on the San Francisco Bay Ferry Board of Directors. Ms. Foust will join the board at its May 14 meeting.

Ms. Foust will replace Jessica Alba, who was appointed to the Board in 2020.

“Rosanne Foust’s deep understanding of local government, economic development, and regional transportation needs will be an incredible asset to SF Bay Ferry,” said SF Bay Ferry Executive Director Seamus Murphy. “We are also greatly appreciative of the service of Director Alba through her time on our board. The agency’s work will continue to be guided by her expertise and foresight as we develop and grow.”

In her role as President and CEO of SAMCEDA, Ms. Foust leads critical initiatives to strengthen the county’s economy and facilitates key partnerships between major employers, local businesses, government, education, labor and non-profits in the community. She has been a principal advocate for major transportation projects including Caltrain electrification, and essential transportation funding initiatives on the Peninsula.

Previously, Ms. Foust served in multiple leadership roles at Alsace Development International USA, Inc. Prior to her international development work, she served for twelve years on the Redwood City Council, including time as Mayor and Vice Mayor. During her time as an elected official, she spent 10 years on the San Mateo County Transportation Authority Board of Directors, five as Board Chair.

The SF Bay Ferry Board of Directors is a five-member body. Three members, including the chair and vice chair, are appointed by the governor. One member is appointed by the Senate Rules Committee. One member is appointed by the Assembly Speaker. The Board of Directors is the policy-making body for the agency.

Ms. Foust will serve the remainder of Ms. Alba’s vacated term, which expires on January 1, 2030. She joins Chair Wunderman, Vice Chair Monique Moyer, Director Michael Hennebery and Director Pippin Dew on the Board.

San Francisco Bay Ferry is a regional public transit agency tasked with developing, operating and expanding ferry service on the San Francisco Bay and with coordinating the water transit response to regional emergencies. The agency operates ferry routes connecting the cities of Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, South San Francisco and Vallejo.
