Local Breweries Celebrate San Francisco Bay Ferry Relaunch With Special Beers

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) today announced that three local craft breweries have partnered to release a special line-up of new beers celebrating the relaunch of San Francisco Bay Ferry service.

The Brews With Views line-up includes:

  • Ferry Good Pale Ale from East Brother Beer Company in Richmond
  • Ferry No. 2 India Pale Ale from Mare Island Brewing Co. in Vallejo
  • Hop On Pale Ale from Faction Brewing in Alameda

The three beers are available on board many San Francisco Bay Ferry departures, at the breweries’ taprooms and at select local retailers. Beginning September 13, the breweries will offer customers at their taprooms vouchers to receive discounts on the Brews With Views when riding the ferry.

All three breweries are located in communities served by San Francisco Bay Ferry seven days a week. Photos of the Brews With Views are available on request.

“Onboard concessions is one of San Francisco Bay Ferry’s most appreciated passenger amenities,” said WETA Executive Director Seamus Murphy. “These new ferry-themed brews from local favorites are a great addition to the menu and a perfect way to celebrate the return of ferry service.”

WETA is working with its concessionaire to staff the bar for as many San Francisco Bay Ferry departures as possible. Food and drink, including the Brews With Views line-up, cannot be purchased on board when a bartender is not present. Most evening and weekend trips on the Oakland & Alameda and Vallejo routes are currently staffed.

Under San Francisco public health orders, proof of vaccination must be presented to purchase concessions on board the ferry. Masks are required in indoor areas on the ferry per federal rules. Masks can be briefly pulled down to eat or drink on board, but should cover the mouth and nose in between sips or bites.

On July 1, 2021, WETA launched its Pandemic Recovery Program. The Program is designed to incentivize ridership by restoring ferry service throughout the region and lowering fares for one year. San Francisco Bay Ferry currently offers more weekday departures than ever before. As of July 1, ferry fares were reduced by up to 30 percent across the system through the end of June 2022.
