San Francisco Bay Ferry is committed to providing current and future passengers with the best possible transit experience. To ensure the long-term financial sustainability of our service in San Mateo county and systemwide, we are initiating a study to consider potential change to the current South San Francisco ferry route.

PUBLIC OUTREACH INITIATIVES:
- A public survey conducted from September through early October 2025, receiving over 1,500 submissions
- An in-person event at the South San Francisco Ferry Terminal on Sept. 25, 2025 and a virtual event on Sept. 26, 2025 to share a proposed menu of service and operational changes to support the service
- Two ferry chats, where staff engaged with current riders
- A public survey on preferred schedule adjustments, conducted late-December 2025 through early January, 2026
STAKEHOLDER INITIATIVES:
- SF Bay Ferry is working with a Technical Advisory Working Group (TAWG) including stakeholders from civic organizations, Oyster Point employers and transportation experts to consider a menu of options to build sustainable South S.F. ferry service.
PROJECT TIMELINE AND NEXT STEPS:
- NOV.-DEC. 2025: Analyze results of public feedback and stakeholder initiatives to develop preferred service options to TAWG
- JAN.-FEB. 2026: Propose preferred service change plan to SF Bay Ferry Board of Directors
- MARCH 2026: Initial phase of service change implementation
