San Francisco Bay Ferry announces the pending release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Ferry System Operator to provide public ferry service and vessel management services including vessel and terminal operations, crewing, maintenance and repair services. The Ferry System Operator is a key partner in the delivery of a region-wide ferry service that provides a reliable, state-of-the-art and attractive transportation option for the Bay Area.
This procurement will include the following major milestones:
- Request for Information (RFI) release: Summer 2025
- RFI responses due: Summer 2025
- Hosted Industry Day: Fall 2025
- RFP release: Fall 2025
- RFP responses due: Spring 2026
- Recommendation for award: Summer 2026
- Contract services begin: January 1, 2027
