Hello Vallejo ferry passengers!
Beginning on Monday, September 10, the MV Hydrus will be the primary boat to serve the 4:30 p.m. weekday run from San Francisco to Vallejo. This bigger vessel expands passenger capacity for one of our busiest runs, but will add approximately 10 minutes to the trip due to vessel speed. This should minimize the likelihood that passengers will be left behind at the Ferry Building and ease crowding on later runs.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may pose. San Francisco Bay Ferry’s mission is to provide reliable, timely ferry service. This adjustment will help us meet the growing demand for Vallejo ferry service.
San Francisco Bay Ferry ridership is at an all-time high. The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA), which operates the ferry system, is expanding capacity and service as fast as possible. WETA’s strategic plan lays out a vision for frequent ferry service in the Bay Area that maintains high customer satisfaction.
Three new high-speed, high-capacity vessels are being built to enhance San Francisco Bay Ferry service in Vallejo and elsewhere. Until those vessels arrive, we are maximizing our fleet’s capabilities. That includes this service adjustment.
