SF Bay Ferry Customer Satisfaction Remains at 98%

SAN FRANCISCO | September 26, 2025 – San Francisco Bay Ferry today released a report showing an industry-leading 98% of riders in 2025 were satisfied with their experience on the transit system.

The onboard survey was conducted in April 2025 by Corey, Canapary & Galanis and resulted in 71% of riders reporting being “very satisfied” and an additional 27% reporting being “satisfied” with their experience on board SF Bay Ferry.

This is the third year in a row SF Bay Ferry customer satisfaction has been at or above 98%. Customer satisfaction hit 99% in 2023 and 98% in 2024.

“SF Bay Ferry’s high customer satisfaction rating comes as no surprise to me,” said SF Bay Ferry Board Chair Jim Wunderman. “The rating is a result of thoughtful management and a team of dedicated crew members working hard to earn every rider by making sure the system is relaxing, reliable, affordable, and constantly improving.”

The survey indicated the SF Bay Ferry’s comfort, safety, cleanliness and ease of use were key contributors to riders’ high ratings. Three-quarters of respondents said relaxation and stress reduction is the top reason they ride.

Two-thirds of riders said they would use car-based transportation if they did not take the ferry, with 43% opting to drive alone. Around 60% said they would use other means of public transit, and 10% said they have no alternative to SF Bay Ferry.

The full report can be found here.

The onboard survey was conducted during a period ridership growth for the SF Bay Ferry System. In May, SF Bay Ferry reported ridership numbers surpassing 2019 levels for the first time, and ridership continues to rise. Ridership has grown 17% over the past 12-month period.
