Passenger Experience Upgrades Headed Your Way
We are working to upgrade your experience while riding the ferry by introducing new passenger amenities and services this spring and summer. Passenger experience upgrades will include welcoming the MV Dorado, our newest state-of-the-art vessel, a new app and ticketing system, and launching real-time ferry information to help you get to where you need to go. Meet Your New Boat
Join us in welcoming the newest vessel to the Bay Area! This vessel is the next generation of ferries to join our fleet and will be the first of four in the newest Dorado vessel class. This vessel has a capacity of 320 passengers and employ a water jet-propulsion system with a 32-knot service speed. Built by Mavrik Marine in Washington State for $15 million, this state-of-the-are vessel is helping to support current ferry operations throughout the network.
Bike Disembarkation Changes
Started Monday, May 16
We've streamlined how bikers and scooter users move between our vessels and the terminal, system-wide. In an effort to simplify and modernize ferry operations, and to allow for safer and more efficient offloading of bikes, bikes and scooters are now asked to offboard in the following order:
- On weekdays across ALL routes, bikers will offload first
- On weekends across ALL routes, bikers will offload last
As we welcome more people aboard ferries, this new disembarkation flow will allow bikers and walk-on passengers alike to navigate safely when going between the dock and vessel.
Better Trip Predictions in Real-Time
Upgraded Predictions now LIVE
We have teamed up with Swiftly Inc., a San Francisco-based mobility solutions company, to provide real-time ferry departure information for riders. These real-time predictions will allow San Francisco Bay Ferry passengers to more easily know when their vessel will arrive and depart, enhancing reliability and understanding around when to catch a ferry. To reach our riders in a variety of ways, real-time data will be available on a variety of platforms including smartphone apps, the San Francisco Bay Ferry website and terminal signs. Real-time data will also streamline ferry operations and ultimately create a more efficient and easy-to-use system for all.
Tickets Your Way
System now LIVE
We are excited to introduce a new ticketing system for our passengers. The new Anchor ticketing system, which is employed by numerous transit agencies across North America, will make buying ferry tickets easy and hassle-free for all passengers not using Clipper. Once live, ferry riders will be able to:
- Purchase tickets for regularly-scheduled routes AND sports services from a single app
- Manage their tickets and change ticket information right from their personal devices if needed
- Buy tickets on a website and send them to their phone

- Vessel tracking and trip time information

Downtown S.F. Terminal Wayfinding Upgrades
In Development | Expected November 2022
Better wayfinding and directional signage will debut at the Downtown S.F. Ferry Terminal this summer. As more riders return to ferries, clearer signage will help to elevate the passenger experience when queuing, boarding and navigating around the terminal area. Signage improvement will include:
- New boarding lanes for each route
- Clearer boarding signage for departures at each gate
- Updated information signage around the seating area prior to each gate entrance
