Oakland Ferry Fest 2024

You’re invited to the 2024 Oakland Ferry Fest! San Francisco Bay Ferry is hosting a celebration of ferries and the Oakland community at Jack London Square, right next to our Oakland Ferry Terminal. There will be music, food, games & activities, community booths, free ferry rides, and a kids' activity area sponsored by Children's Fairyland! The festival will take place Saturday, June 1st, from 12 PM to 6 PM at the plaza right next to the Oakland Ferry Terminal. We look forward to having you join us.

Free Ferry Tours!

Free ferry rides will be offered throughout the day free of charge for people wanting to jump aboard. Ferry tours will both depart and arrive back at the Oakland Terminal. Each tour will last about 20 minutes and cruise along the Oakland Estuary.

Tours are FREE and last approx. 20 minutes. Boarding is first-come, first-served. 

Getting to the Festival

The Oakland Ferry Fest will take place in the plaza directly in front of the Oakland Ferry Terminal at Jack London Square. Festival-goers can take transit from all points in the region. Parking is also available a block away from the festival main event area. 

Via Ferry

Coming from the City or Peninsula? Ferry service from Downtown San Francisco (Gate G) arrives directly at the festival site on a roughly hourly basis. See the full schedule. Please note that regular transbay ferry service will require fares.

Via BART

Coming from elsewhere in the East Bay or South Bay? 12th St. Oakland City Center BART is the closest station to Jack London Square. Once out of the station, Jack London Square and the Oakland Ferry Fest is a 15 minute walk down Broadway in the direction of the waterfront. 

Via AC Transit 

AC Transit provides weekend bus service along Broadway to/from Jack London Square. 

  • Line 72 - Hilltop - CCC - San Pablo | At 2nd Street and Washington Street.
  • Line 72M & Line 72R - San Pablo Rapid & Macdonald - San Pablo.
  • Line 12 - MLK Jr. - Temescal - Grand | At Embarcadero and Broadway.
  • 1T - Uptown - San Leandro | NB at 12th St & Broadway | SB at 11th St & Broadway. 

Coming From Alameda? 

If you are coming to the Oakland Ferry Fest from Alameda, we encourage coming via AC Transit Lines 19, 20, 51A or 96. 

  • Line 19 - Buena Vista - Fruitvale - Seminary Ave. 
  • Line 20 - Dimond - Fruitvale - South Shore. 
  • Line 51A - Broadway - Santa Clara.
  • Line 96 - Alameda Pt - 14th Ave - Dimond.

NOTICE - Ferry service will NOT be available back to the Main Street Alameda Ferry Terminal from Oakland on June 1. We encourage all festival-goes from Alameda take advantage of weekend bus service to get to and from Jack London Square for Ferry Fest. 

Parking

Parking is available in the garage at 101 Washington Street near the ferry terminal. If you ride the ferry, parking is free for 12 hours with validation. Garage hours are:

  • Monday through Thursday: 6 AM to 12 AM
  • Friday: 6 AM to 1 AM
  • Saturday: 8 AM to 1 AM
  • Sunday: 8 AM to 12 AM

Amtrak

The Oakland Jack London Square Station is a 10-minute walk from the Oakland Ferry Fest event area. 

  • Capitol Corridor - Sacramento, San Jose, Fairfield-Vacaville
  • San Joaquins - Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield
  • Coast Starlight - Seattle, Portland, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles

Bicycles

  • Bike Racks: Limited open-air bicycle racks are available near the ferry terminal.
  • Bike Lockers: Secure BikeLink lockers are available at the Amtrak station, about a half-mile away.
  • Bike Share: There is a Bay Wheels public bike share dock steps from the ferry terminal.
  • Bikes on Ferries: Bikes can be brought on board all ferries on a first-come, first-served basis.
