Fleet Week 2024 Extra Ferry Service 

San Francisco Bay Ferry will be offering enhanced weekend schedules for Fleet Weekend 2024 on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. Extra trips will be operating on Saturday & Sunday system-wide in anticipation for large crowds riding to/from San Francisco for weekend Fleet Week festivities. Schedule enhancements include: 

  • Extra departures on the Oakland & Alameda ferry route.
  • Extra departures on the Vallejo ferry route. 
  • Extra departures on the Pier 41 Short Hop route. 
  • A special reservation-only scenic trip from Richmond to Downtown S.F. (trip duration 1 hour).

Ferry service will operate on normal weekday schedules from Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11. Enhanced schedules will be in effect on the Pier 41 Short Hop, Oakland & Alameda and Vallejo routes on Saturday, 10/12 and Sunday, 10/13.

Richmond Scenic Trip

TRIP INFORMATION: This trip leaves from the Richmond Ferry Terminal at 3 PM. It will take a more leisurely route to the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal (1 hour), with close views of Angel Island, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge before landing in San Francisco at 4 PM. Great views of the Fleet Week Air Show and a cool bay breeze are on offer with this trip, too. Normal Richmond fares will apply.

The Richmond Scenic trip is a one-way trip and all passengers must disembark at Downtown S.F. upon arrival. Due to high ridership, there is a high likelihood that the 4:30 PM S.F. departure back to Richmond will be full.

IMPORTANT: If you ride the Richmond Scenic trip to S.F., expect to be in S.F. until the 6 PM departure back to Richmond due to vessel capacity on trips heading back to Richmond. Board the 6 PM S.F. departure to Richmond at Gate F. This trip is first-come, first-served and we suggest being in line to board this trip 30 minutes prior to departure.

Tickets & Fares

Normal fares will apply for ALL enhanced schedules and extra trips. Valid ferry fares include: 

  • Clipper (recommended and easiest) - Remember to Tag On & Tag Off

  • Mobile Tickets (via the SF Bay Ferry mobile app). 

  • Paper Tickets - purchase tickets at Bay Crossings OR onboard the vessel after boarding.

Plan Ahead for Crowds

Due to Fleet Week festivities, we expect higher-than-normal ridership and to operate full boats prior to and after the Fleet Week airshow in San Francisco. Here are some tips to ensure a smooth ferry ride for you and others!

  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to your ferry's scheduled departure time. Be prepared for longer boarding lines at ferry terminals.
  • Ferry service is first-come, first-served. Please respect your fellow riders and do not cut the boarding line. 
  • Have valid fare ready prior to boarding. If using the SF Bay Ferry app, remember to activate your ticket prior to boarding. 
  • Listen to all announcements made by terminal staff and crews while at terminals and when onboard vessels.
  • Alert terminal staff or crew members if you have any concerns or questions. 

All ferries depart promptly at their scheduled departure times. Please respect the boarding queues - no cutting!
