Free Embarcadero Audio Tour Available for Ferry Riders in April

San Francisco Bay Ferry has partnered with VoiceMap to offer an illuminating self-guided audio tour of San Francisco’s famous Embarcadero free to ferry riders for the entire month of April.

“Sand Castles: The Remarkable Story of the San Francisco Embarcadero” is a self-guided GPS-based audio tour produced by the award-winning storyteller Claire Schoen. Listeners begin the tour near the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal at Cupid’s Span, the large red bow-and-arrow sculpture just to the south of the Ferry Building. The full tour is about 90 minutes long with two miles of walking.

The tour is typically available for purchase for $5.99, but VoiceMap is making the tour available for free to ferry riders in April. You’ll need the voucher code from the onboard video screens or flyers available on all San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels.

Here's how to take advantage of this offer:

  • 1. Get on a San Francisco Bay Ferry. Any ferry or route will do! You want to be in Downtown San Francisco to take the tour, though.
  • 2. Install the VoiceMap app on your smartphone (search VoiceMap in the app store)
  • 3. Create a free account
  • 4. Select "Tour Codes"
  • 5. Enter the code you find on board the ferry display or flyer
