Bicycles, Boards and Scooters
on the Ferry
Bicycles
- All conventional and electric bikes can be stored in the bike stowage area onboard the vessel. On most ferries, this is in the rear of the ferry. On Gemini class vessels, the primary bike stowage area is on the front of the vessel. Passengers can also stow their bicycles on the rear deck on these ferries; just ask a crew member if you need directions. Note that if you use the rear stowage on Gemini class vessels, you will need to wait for pedestrian passengers to clear before exiting the ferry.
- Folding bikes should be stowed in the bike storage area on each vessel.
- Charging of any electric bike, scooter, or mobility device is prohibited onboard all San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels per U.S. Coast Guard regulation. No exceptions.
- Gas-powered bikes and motorcycles are never allowed onboard any San Francisco Bay Ferry vessel per U.S. Coast Guard regulation.
- All bikes must stay unlocked when parked in the stowage onboard the vessel.

- All scooters must stay unlocked when parked in the stowage onboard the vessel.

Other Mobility Devices
- Mobility devices such as skateboards can be stored in the bike stowage area onboard the vessel or brought into the passenger cabin provided they do not block any walkway or take up a seat.
- Mobility devices can be driven onboard the vessel and parked in the main passenger cabin on the lower level only if the individual is unable to disembark the device prior to boarding and walk the device onboard the vessel. Ask crew members for assistance if necessary.
