Bicycles, Boards and Scooters on the Ferry
Bicycles, scooters and other mobility devices are welcome on all San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels. No extra fees apply. However, to ensure operation of the ferry and meet U.S. Coast Guard regulations, we have some guidelines.
For questions and assistance while onboard, please ask a crew member.
Bicycles
- All conventional and electric bikes can be stored in the bike stowage area onboard the vessel. On most ferries, this is in the rear of the ferry. On Gemini class vessels, the primary bike stowage area is on the front of the vessel. Passengers can stow their bicycles on the aft deck on these ferries; just ask a crew member if you direction. Note that if you use the aft stowage on Gemini class vessels, you will need to wait for pedestrian passengers to clear before exiting the ferry.
- Folding bikes should be stowed in the bike storage area on each vessel.
- Charging of any electric bike, scooter or mobility device is prohibited onboard all San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels per Coast Guard regulation. No exceptions.
- Gas-powered bikes and motorcycles are never allowed onboard any San Francisco Bay Ferry vessel per U.S. Coast Guard regulation.
Scooters

- Collapsible scooters are allowed inside the passenger cabin but must not block any walkway or take up a seat.
