Richmond Ferry Terminal Project FAQs

Q: When and where will construction take place?

A: Construction will take place at the project site at the south terminus of Harbor Way South from February to October 2018.

Q: What are the construction hours?

A: Typically, construction will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work could occur up to 5:30 p.m. or later should overtime be needed to complete certain project components.

Q: Will parking be restricted during construction?

A: Yes. There will only be one parking lot available on the west side of Harbour Way South during most of the construction period. Parking along the West side of Harbour Way South will not be available from early February through Early April.

Q: What sort of construction will take place?

A: During the initial construction phase in February and March 2018 construction work will include pile driving activity to install a pile supported platform at the landside area adjacent to the terminal facility entry. The pile driving activity will produce noise and vibration in the vicinity. Construction activities for the parking lot and public access improvements will generally include minor excavation and grading to start, followed by paving, concrete installation and landscape installation later.

Q: Will public access be affected by construction?

A: Public access will remain as open as possible throughout construction. Some construction activities may result in temporary disruptions to public access. Public access will be controlled by the construction contractor for public safety purposes.

During waterside construction of the pier, float and gangway, the channel south of Ford Point may be temporarily constricted for short periods when floating construction equipment is encroaching on the channel.
