From San Francisco Ferry Bldg to Alameda Main StreetReturn trip

The San Francisco Bay Ferry provides year-round weekday and weekend service and service on select holidays between Alameda Main Street or Oakland Jack London Square terminals in the East Bay and San Francisco Ferry Building or Pier 41 terminals. The Alameda/Oakland service is partially funded by Measure B.

1 Seniors, persons with disabilities and Medicare cardholders may ride at a discount if they hold a Youth, Senior, or RTC Clipper Card, a Regional Transit Connection Discount Card, Medicare card, Department of Motor Vehicles Disabled Placard Identification Card or proof of age 65 or older. To request an RTC Discount Card application, visit the 511 website or call (415) 705-8291.
3 To qualify, school groups must call (415) 705-8214 for advance approval and reservations.

Purchasing Tickets & Transfer Info

  • Purchase tickets onboard the ferry at time of departure, at Blue & Gold Fleet’s Pier 41 Ticket Booth (no service charge), or at the Bay Crossings Store in the San Francisco Ferry Building.
  • Boarding Policy: Passengers holding tickets or a Ticket Purchase Confirmation (from online ticket purchases) are boarded first.
  • We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Commuter Check.
  • Tickets may only be used on the ferry route for which they were originally purchased.
  • Standard fare tickets cannot be used on AT&T Park ferry.
  • Transferring to or from MUNI using your Clipper Card? Adult San Francisco Bay Ferry passengers using Clipper receive a $0.50 transfer discount when transferring between the ferry and MUNI. The discount is provided both to and from the ferry.
  • AC Transit transfer with ticket purchase.
  • Fares subject to change.

Pier 41 Terminal Address: Pier 41, San Francisco, CA 94133. Pier 41 is located immediately adjacent to the Pier 39 entertainment complex. Search nearby locations or get directions to the Pier 41 Terminal.

Parking at Pier 41: Parking is available at an hourly fee in the Pier 39 parking garage, located across the Embarcadero from Pier 41 and Pier 39.

Public Transit Options: Transit options near Pier 41 include MUNI buses, trolleys, light rail and cable car. In addition, connecting ferries to Tiburon & Sausalito, and San Francisco Bay Ferries to Vallejo, Oakland and Alameda Main St arrive and depart from the Pier 41 area.

San Francisco Ferry Building Terminal Address: The ferry arrives and departs from the South Terminal (Gate E), located approximately one block from Pier ½ on the south end of the Ferry Building. Search nearby locations or get directions to San Francisco Ferry Building.

Parking in San Francisco: Parking is limited around the ferry terminal. Riders are encouraged to use public transportation when boarding the ferry at the SF Ferry Building.

Public Transit Options: Transit options near the San Francisco Ferry Building include BART and MUNI buses, trolleys and light rail. In addition, connecting Golden Gate Transit ferries to Marin County (Tiburon, Sausalito, Larkspur), and San Francisco Bay Ferries to Vallejo, Oakland and Alameda Main St arrive and depart from the Ferry Building. Alameda Terminal Address:  2990 Main St, Alameda CA, 94501. Search nearby locations or get directions to the Alameda Main St. Terminal.

Oakland Terminal Address:  The Oakland terminal is located at the west end of Jack London Square; Near 10 Clay St, Oakland CA, 94607. Search nearby locations or get directions to the Oakland Terminal.

Parking at Alameda Main Street: Limited free parking for 324 cars is available in the ferry terminal parking lot at 2990 Main Street. There is parking for an additional 121 cars in the paved O’Lot located on Main street ¼ of a mile west of the ferry terminal. Parking is free. There is no overnight parking.

Bike Accommodations at Alameda Main St: There are 20 secure electronic bicycle lockers available using the BikeLink card system. Visit for more information. In addition there are bike racks that can accommodate up to 62 bikes.

Parking in Oakland: Riders receive up to 12 hrs free validated parking in the 7-story garage at 101 Washington St. Riders will be charged for any time over 12 hrs. Validate parking tickets at the ferry terminal. Garage hours are: Monday through Thursday 5:30 AM to 1:00 AM; Friday 5:30 AM to 2:00 AM; Saturday 8:00 AM to 2:00 AM; Sunday 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM. There is no overnight parking.

Guaranteed Ride Home Programs

Ferry riders who experience a workday illness, family crisis or other unscheduled emergency may be eligible for a free ride home from work via taxi, rental car or other transit options provided by Guaranteed Ride Home programs offered by San Mateo and Alameda Counties to employees working in those counties. AC Transit Bus transfers: Every ferry ticket comes with an attached AC Transit transfer allowing ferry riders to ride FREE on AC buses to and from Jack London Square or the Alameda Main Street terminal. An additional charge is required for AC express (X) buses.

Free Broadway Shuttle: Offers fast, free connections between the Oakland Ferry Terminal area (stop is approx 2 blocks away at Broadway & Embarcadero) and BART and downtown Oakland offices.

Weekday Broadway Shuttle Service (Orange route)
Mondays-Fridays 7am-7pm between Embarcadero West (Jack London Square) and Grand Avenue. Shuttles run every 10 minutes during commute hours and lunchtime; every 15 minutes other times.

Weekend Night Broadway Shuttle Service (Blue route)
Fridays 7pm-1am & Saturdays 6pm-1am between Embarcadero West (Jack London Square) and 27th Street. Shuttles run every 15 minutes.

The Broadway Shuttle does not operate on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
